What Type Of Magician Is Best For Your Event?

Do you want you and your guests to be mesmerized at your next event? Magicians will undoubtedly do the trick. Read on to read what our Artists have to say about what people like and further advice on choosing the right magician for you!

What type of magic or magician is best for my event?

Magic appeals to the child in everyone, seemingly defying logic and normality to amaze, surprise and entertain. Thanks to the popularity of TV's street illusionists such as Dynamo, Troy and David Blaine, magicians and magic acts are in high demand for all types of events, including weddings, corporate events and private parties.

But which sort of magic is best for which sort of event? We asked some of the best magicians in the UK  for their tips on which magician to pull out of the hat for your wedding, corporate event or private party.

Best magicians for your wedding

Wedding celebrations bring together the people you both know and love, but they don't necessarily know each other! A magician provides a great ice-breaker, by giving everyone a shared experience of “How on earth did they do that?", to discuss all night long!

Our professional magicians all agree that the best type of magic act for your wedding is close-up magic, performed right in front on your guests.

Matthew Knight wedding musician

Modern-style magician Mathew Knight says,

Close-up magic is a great way to keep your guests entertained during those ‘waiting’ parts of your wedding day. Close-up magic creates excitement and laughter, puts your guests at ease, and gets them talking!

Adam Keisner wedding magician

Slick and stylish magician Louis Cyphre has noticed how different types of close-up magic appeal to different groups, and tailors his act accordingly.

The best magic for weddings is pretty, visual magic. Lads together like card tricks, while ladies prefer the more emotional magic that’s pretty to look at as well as clever.

For maximum impact, magician Simon Si suggests you don't always let your wedding guests know that he's the entertainment…

When I do table-top magic at weddings, I move from table to table. Your guests don’t now if I’m a guest too - until suddenly, magic happens! A deck of cards appears, a coin springs from behind an ear, and the party really gets started!

Cracking magic for corporate events

Light up your corporate event with a little bit of magic, designed to engage, delight and entertain. Magic has no language barriers, so it's ideal for international meetings or conferences. Mathew Knight has years of experience of how close-up magic brings a diverse group of people together.

Close-up magic at corporate events is a highly effective way to get people mixing and mingling, offering an experience of the seemingly impossible, and creating a fantastic talking point.

A magic show can also be the main entertainment at your event, especially when served up with wit and laughter, as with Simon Si's popular Comedy Magic Show:

My show features incredible magic with lots of humour, including Harry Houdini's famous ‘Needle Swallowing’ act, which I make even tastier with a dash of ketchup! This show is suitable for large corporate audiences or adjusted for more exclusive events.

For major events, international magician David Penn takes magic to a whole different level:

Large-scale corporate events require something really special. My illusion show is very much in the Las Vegas style, ideal for conferences, annual dinners or awards ceremonies when you want to bring your event to a spectacular close.

Magic isn't just for entertainment either; it can also help sell your products and services. Inner Magic Circle member Adam Keisner can tailor his show to your requirements:

Corporate Magic turns magic into a highly effective marketing tool, to create interest and excite customers about your products or company. I create a unique show based on the corporate message your company wants to get across.

A magician can also work his magic for your business at trade shows and exhibitions, as David Penn explains:

Magic is superb trade show infotainment, successfully stopping delegates from walking past, drawing them in to your stand and then delivering your message whilst entertaining them with clever and classy close up magic and illusions.

Perfect entertainment for private parties

Many of us have seen magicians on TV, but how many have seen them work up close and personal? Why not delight your party guests with close-up or table magic at your event, and listen to them squeal, laugh and gasp in sheer delight - our magicians really are that good!

Simon Si wedding magician

Lincolnshire-based close-up magician Darren Kidby has 20 years experience delighting party guests.

Close up magic is great for private parties, enhancing the event without being too dominant, and creating long-lasting memories for your guests.

Louis Cyphre also very much enjoys this kind of one-to-one interaction:

I love thrilling guests with magic performed so close they can see every move I make (well, almost!).

In contrast, Simon Si likes to bring your guests to his own table, providing a focal point for smaller gatherings.

A close-up magic show is ideal for small parties ideally between10-35 people. I sit at a table and perform magic tricks for guests who stand enchanted and so enthralled; it's a unique atmosphere and really special.
